Here are some military family facts.

More than two million American children have had a parent deploy to Iraq or Afghanistan.

Military children face the following challenges. Lengthy separations from loved-ones Frequent relocations that often end trusted friendships Multiple cycles of adapting to new schools Feelings of isolation.

Food Insecurity Impact

Readiness:  Food insecurity is linked to decreased personal and unit readiness among service members.

Retention:  Service members experiencing food insecurity are less likely to remain on active duty.

Increased Need: Civilian food pantries are seeing a significant increase in military families seeking their assistance

Spiritual Insecurity Impact

Spiritual Need: The gospel is considered necessary for the military because service members face unique stressors like separation, demanding conditions, and moral challenges, creating a receptive audience for spiritual support and hope.

At the San Diego Christian Servicemens Center, we hold our monthly Treasure Bag For Troops event where we help military children by providing them a safe environment to play while we hand out groceries to their parents.
